Balance - What you need to know

Balance is something we need each and every day. Whether we are conscious of it or overly aware, poor balance puts us at a greater risk of falls. Falls risk is a primary reason for adopting sedentary behaviours, as a fear of falling will often limit one's capacity to complete activities of daily living (ADLs).

To understand why your balance might not be what it was, it's important to identify key areas within the body responsible for the input of messages. Vision, nerves of muscles, joints, and the vestibular system (inner ear) are all key components. By keeping these areas healthy through appropriate intervention, you are able to assist in effectively managing negative effects on the body.

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are trained professionals who can address your balance concerns through a tailored exercise regime. Contact us to find out how we can help you.
